Found these photos from our performance of Matilda & Charlie (our own mashup of Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) with our amazing students in China.

What a whirlwind it was , working with children from another country and another language on the other side of the world , and watching them grow into these characters, was a real highlight of our summer. Missing their energy already.

A huge shout-out to two incredible women who made this China trip so special.

Erin runs Universal Minds, the company in China that made this whole experience possible. Working with people professionally, you never quite know what you’re going to get — but Erin went above and beyond, and I learned so much from her along the way.

And @emmajaneclifford ,my dear friend and teacher, was the glue who introduced us to Erin in the first place, and who joined me on this journey to run the workshops together. Truly the magic ingredient that made this all happen.

Between the three of us, we supported each other and lifted each other up when the going got tough, rose to every challenge, created something magical for our students, and still managed to have the most incredible time bonding on a personal level too.

There was something beautifully fitting about this partnership on a spiritual level too : Universal Minds and universal energy, @lightsup.perform and that light of the universe shining through our children. A real meeting of minds.

So grateful to have Erin and Universal Minds as partners, and so excited for what we’ll create together next. We’re all about lifting women up, helping businesses grow, and making sure children get to shine their light , and this trip captured that in every way. 💛

A look back at an incredible week in Shanghai! 🇨🇳✨ These snippets capture our summer camp rehearsal process ,an intense, joyful week where our kids embraced improv (brand new for many!), pushed past their limits, and let their real talent shine through. Their English was incredible, and their dedication even more so. Huge thanks to our @lightsup.perform teachers @yvette_robinson_ and @emmajaneclifford for guiding them every step of the way. We’ve since performed the full production and they were amazing ! more photos from that coming soon!

It has been such a joy teaching our #wuhan students at their summer camp . We have never known children to learn so much in such little time ..their work ethic blew us away , and their love for what we teach them has been so inspiring and a true gift for us 💛

Day five in Wuhan, China with these incredible kids and @lightsup.perform haven’t stopped! Emma and Yvette have thrown so much at them this week, treating them like the professionals they are , and they’ve risen to every challenge, working entirely in a second language. They’ve had them singing numbers from Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, tackling choreography, and diving into improvisation for the first time. Honestly, they’ve blown Yvette & Emma away.

Every break, they come running over to our teachers for hugs before they even get a moment to catch their breath! This is our first workshop in China, and it’s been hard work but an absolute joy. We cannot wait for their parents to see the show they’ve built at the end of this week. 💙

@lightsup.perform 🦁 FIRST EVER Lights Up workshop in Wuhan, China! 🇨🇳 We kicked off our brand new collaboration with Universal Minds with a Lion King workshop the children will never forget! Emma and Yvette took our Wuhan students through an intense hour and a half diving deep into Hakuna Matata, hosted at the beautiful Heartland Theatre. It was a true baptism of fire , for us learning how to teach children in China, and for them experiencing the Lights Up way of teaching for the first time! But wow, did they have a ball. So did we. 💛 And we’re just getting started , this week we start our seven-day workshop in Wuhan, this time bringing Roald Dahl musicals to life! So many parent emails thanking us for how much their kids have grown , and how much they love our classes. That’s all down to you two. 💛

Special mention to Chloe, off to continue her acting studies , we’re so proud and will miss you! And welcome back to Leighann after being away on an acting job ,the kids are thrilled to have you back in the Lights Up fold !

Teens showcase photos have dropped! 📸

Our teen group’s performance of SIX the Musical truly took things to a whole new level, and we are still buzzing.

The energy was dynamic from start to finish , choreography pushed to its absolute limit and executed brilliantly. SIX doesn’t work if there’s a weak link; it only works when everyone’s on the same page, feeding off each other. And that is exactly what they did.

We’re still getting messages about how incredible you were. So proud of you all. It’s an honour to be your teachers , can’t wait to see what next term brings 💛

We are BURSTING with pride over our 8–12 yr old kids’ evening class at Fulham Boys School! 🎭❄️

Here are just a few magical moments captured by our incredible in house photographer @robin_bell_ .

This group’s Frozen performance was nothing short of extraordinary , louder voices, deeper commitment to character, and bold, fresh choices we’d never seen from them before. They took every single person in that audience on a beautiful journey.
